Oh my. What a day on the adoption front!
Our agency found out today that the Ethiopian government is now requiring adoptive families to travel TWICE - once 2-3 weeks after the referral, and again after passing court. The reason for the change: Evidently there have been a number of families (not with our agency) who have accepted a referral, passed court (meaning the child is legally theirs), traveled to pick up their child, met their child, and then changed their minds and virtually abandoned their child. I can't imagine!
My first reaction - "What?!? This isn't how it's 'supposed' to go. An extra trip at $2500 a ticket - yikes!!! We didn't budget for that expense! It means leaving our girls for two weeks instead of one. And to go and meet our child and then leave him or her there for 8-12 weeks until we pass court - heartbreaking."
My second reaction - "I can understand that the government is trying to protect these children to the best of their ability, and we want the best for each of them too. His plans are higher than my plans. He will not give us more than we can bear."
They always say that the adoption journey is like an emotional roller coaster, and they are right (whoever "they" are). :)
Where does the time go??

YIKES. Seems hard to believe. Just another one of those trust barriers that you and Nathan are going to have to break through. And...you will. You have. I have a question for you that I may just have to call you about!
Yow! Hang in there mama...praying that this will be one more part of your story that God makes amazing!
Oh WOW Julie! That is certainly big news! We are continuing to think and pray for you (and our new little niece or nephew!) so much in this process! Love!
